BREAK THE CAMELSBACK
Ever dreamt of combining a couple CrossFit WODs, biking a 5k, running a 5k, and hiking Camelback to create the perfect team competition? Probably not because its just too crazy! December 11th, 2016, Full Strength, will be hosting “Break the Camel(s)back” for the 2nd time!
So being one of the original CrossFit gyms in the Valley we decided to make this a fun day and go back to the roots of CrossFit. While this is a competition we want to avoid turning this into a “CrossFit Games” mentality and complain about awful judging. THIS IS FOR FUN! We will be donating for a great cause…with that said…you will be counting reps for your team. Yes, this is on the honor system. We will have RX and a scaled divisions. You are not winning $5,000 or securing a spot for regionals. We are doing a day where you know your money spent is going to the AAWL…not our gym bank account to buy new equipment. If you want to have a blast…this is the competition for you. If you want prize money and think its dumb we don’t have legit certified judges…hold off on this because you may decide that CrossFit Competitions are actually just for fun and should be run for a good cause.
Coach Emily decided to throw out the idea of a CF Comp based off of Triathlons. At first it sounded crazy, but we sold out in 48 hours. With 50 teams (150 people) and only 2000 sq feet we had the perfect competition. We couldn’t host it again because we knew it would grow and we didn’t have the space. Now we have 5,000 sq feet and want to blow this up!
Currently the day is planned out as:
Athlete 1: WOD1- WOD at Full Strength
Athlete 2: WOD2- Bike to trailhead at Camelback Mountain/Run back to gym (about 5K)
Athlete 3: WOD3- Hike Camelback; Bike back to gym
Athletes 1,2,3: WOD4- Group/team WOD at Full Strength
